Too Rich for Sense

September 19, 2012

Clear skies this early Wednesday morning — rare up here on California’s northern coast.
And what’s more than rare is reality.

After all the bullshit, this is really what rings true: Given Mitt Romney’s limited intellect and his clumsy people skills, the odds are that he never would have made it very far in America if he had not been born into a family of prominence and privilege.

In less than a week, Romney has shown why he’s such a goof-ball asshole.
The man doesn’t have the sense it takes to fill out a tax form (who does?), but with the help of filthy-rich friends who want the same as he: Everything.
Romney’s “off the cuff” fund-raiser-video now running rampant across every available media just confirmed what any sensible observer has known for months and years — Romney really hasn’t any sense of sense.
A most-glaring example came earlier this month shortly after the RNC and Romney was taking a tour of devastated areas in the wake of Hurricane Isaac and spoke with Jodie Chiarello, who lost her home in the storm’s flooding — via HuffPost:

Chiarello said she told Romney, “I lost everything” and that the presidential contender advised her on how to get assistance.
“He said that he was going to do the best that he could for us,” she said.
“He just told me to, um, there’s assistance out there,” Chiarello said of her conversation with Romney.
“He said, go home and call 211.” That’s a public service number offered in many states.

Girl friend, do the ‘best that he could‘ while he wasn’t even paying the least bit of attention?
One aspect that’s really nice the last few weeks, some in the MSM have started to push back against the GOP bullshit that was allowed to hang in the political air like a national dead-skunk-in-the-middle-of-the-road routine — especially a hat’s off to CNN‘s Soledad O’Brien who’s really been grilling some lying GOPers lately, and yesterday Romney senior campaign adviser Bay Buchanan.
Good to see it.
And even Maureen Dowd in her New York Times column yesterday slapped hard at Romney being a rich, not-giving-a-shit turd.
Used to really love Dowd, but lately she’s nearly become nearly a caricature of herself, but Tuesday’s bit was good.
A few snipes:

The candidate, who pays so little in taxes relative to his income that he has to hide tax returns and money in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, then added, condescendingly: “These are people who pay no income tax.”
“So my job is not to worry about those people,” he blithely concluded.
“I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
What kind of presidential candidate shrugs off wooing whole groups — we’re talking many seniors and white-working-class voters in battleground states who are, if he actually knew what he was talking about, his own natural constituencies?

He seemed to have bought into the warped canard that some conservatives inside and outside of Congress have pushed: that the president and Nancy Pelosi were nefariously hooking people on unemployment benefits so they’d get addicted and vote Democratic to keep the unemployment bucks flowing like crack.
It’s literally rich: Willard, born on third base and acting self-made, whining to the rich about what a great deal in life the poor have.
We thought Romney was secretly moderate, but it turns out that he’s secretly cruel, a social Darwinist just like his running mate.
You’d assume that it would be hard now for Romney to resume bashing President Obama for demonizing and pandering on class warfare, with lines like he’s been using on the trail: “he and his allies are pushing us all even further apart by dividing us into groups.”
But, even as Mitt was spitefully demonizing and dividing in Boca, he remained cardboard-cutout un-self-aware, musing: “The thing which I find most disappointing about this president is his attack of one America against another America.”
This is the absolute height of cluelessness.

Or like I said, Romney and his buddies just don’t give a shit.
He’s just interested in running, not governing.
Too rich for the blue blood — while US peoples go WTF!

In a couple of months, we’ll know, clueless or not.
