Friday, ‘Never on Sunday’

August 29, 2014

lgET0092Fog-gray and quiet this Friday morning on California’s north coast — in the really, really-recent past, a Friday would be considered a joyous, near-holiday for the end of a work week was here, but now as a “retired” person, it’s just another frolic in the life.
Supposedly, every day is Friday — if I want it to be.

Perspective is a major feature of real-reality — an ability/desire for the truth amidst bullshit chaos — and in this wildly-wired-weird world of the nowadays, this mind-set/notion/viewpoint is essential, especially as we blunder forward at break-neck speeds.

And quite odd, time — for me right now a sense of out-of-place. Actually not being at work according my life’s former clock, yet still pretty ticky-tacky. A Friday in this ‘new normal’ for me could be a Sunday.

Although it actually feels like it could be a Sunday — got that Sunday-TV-news playing-in-the-background sensation (never get that during the week, up way too early) and like a Sunday, I’m at the laptop, surfing the news and whatnot, working on a post, just passing a relaxed time — today in reality is indeed Friday.
My laptop’s little clock/date thingy tells me so.
Besides, not all of my mental faculties have yet to evaporate in the deepening mucky-muck.

Out in the worldly mucky-muck, a couple of strange, but techno-predictable news spasms — the first from my own stomping grounds, and from the best news site up here, Lost Coast Outpost:

A California State Parks ranger has been stripped of his peace officer status and placed on administrative leave after he was arrested for allegedly driving his state-issued vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
A source snapped the above photo of the ranger, whose name is Tyson Young, after trying and failing to wake him and then calling 911, he told the Outpost.

The photo is a pure-total must see. The guy is passed out, mouth agape, a 24-ounce of Keystone Light between his legs. Read the whole story, just as ridiculous as it sounds. However, a modern-era puzzle as the article says the incident occurred Aug. 15, two-weeks ago today — I wonder why it took so long for the photo (and the story) to appear online? (Posted yesterday afternoon).
The anonymous guy took the pix on a Smart Phone — why the delay?
Maybe police procedure, or something — story there, maybe?

Anyhow, the other semi-engaging incident (beyond ISIS, the Ukraine, and so forth) was the InterWeb reaction to President Obama’s ‘tan suit’ he wore at yesterday’s press conference — I really don’t understand this one, other than the outfit appeared ill fitting, a bit too big.
Google, “Obama tan suit,” and a shitload of choices.
From The Wire:

President Obama gave an important press conference today and even took questions from the press, but all of this was overshadowed by the fact that Obama debuted one of the ugliest suits in the history of this great nation.
The gist of Obama’s statement was that we don’t have a strategy to defeat ISIL in Syria yet.
He also touched on Ukraine/Russia relations and the child migrant crisis.
But instead of debating the validity of our foreign policy in the Middle East, Eastern Europe or Central America, Twitter abandoned its usually academic tone to focus on whether the tan (or beige) suit was awful, fittingly summery or a sign to our enemies abroad that we’re weak.

And then some of the better Tweets:

— ‘This is what happens when Obama bypasses Congress to purchase a suit.’
— ‘Really not liking this Obama tan suit. Sends the wrong signals to our allies.’
— ‘I’m sorry but you can’t declare war in a suit like that.’

And so forth. Probably the best I’d seen, via CNN‘s turn on the ‘tan suit’ story, quick, precise and factual: ‘Obama’s tan suit is a distraction from Benghazi.’

Horror of the whole thing was Obama’s befuddlement over what to do with that ISIS motherfucker.

And now even on a Friday. Yet ‘Never on Sunday‘ — “No, it’s impossible. A whore can’t be happy. A whorish world can’t be happy.”
