T-Rump And Self: ‘He Is A Prototypical Narcissist’ — Textbook Variety

January 1, 2021

In light of the horrors of the T-Rump, one bulwark-bookmark is his most obvious narcissism (Mayo Clinic): ‘Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and  and Trump, admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that’s vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

T-Rump is such an example of narcissism, Sander Thomaes, a developmental psychologist at Utrecht University: ‘“I often use him during my classes. My research is primarily focused on narcissism. There is no better example than Trump: he is a prototypical narcissist.”

In the article at the link above — published apparently in 2016 (I could find no date) — Thomaes does touch upon losing an election:

“We know that narcissists who fail will lash out. Children will do so literally. Narcissists blame others for their failures. In their eyes, they have often been snubbed. Or the other has cheated. It’s not uncommon for them to say the most heinous things about their opponents after they’ve lost or received criticism.”

And would the T-Rum consider himself a failure: ‘“That’s not unthinkable. His reality, befitting a classical narcissist, consists of winners and losers. If he loses while the whole world is watching, that’ll have a big impact on him. But I don’t think we’ll get to see that.”

Yeah we will, and we are as it’s killing the asshole as reported to news outlets, overseas (Helsinki); in the November election; in court on that election loss early last month; and even right up today as the Senate overrode T-Rump’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act, ‘…delivering a bipartisan rebuke to the President in his final days in office.
Love some of that humiliation for a screaming-asshole narcissist.

What got me interested in this particular mental shit of the T-Rump’s was a study I came across this afternoon which examines narcissism amd physical pain — and with the T-Rump appears right.
Via PsyPost yesterday:

“Previous research into narcissism has found that narcissists exhibit a different response to social rejection and social pain than non-narcissists. We were interested in whether this finding could be replicated and then expanded to physical pain,” said study author Melissa T. Buelow of The Ohio State University.

The studies examined both vulnerable and grandiose subtypes of narcissism.
Vulnerable narcissism is characterized by excessive self-absorption, introversion and insecurity, while grandiose narcissism is characterized by an exaggerated sense of superiority, extroversion, and domineering behavior.

What type is the T-Rump, you suppose?

Vulnerable narcissists tended to perform worse on the learning and memory tests following social exclusion (compared to social inclusion.)
Grandiose narcissists, on the other hand, did not appear to be impacted by exclusion.
“It appears that grandiose narcissists were simply less bothered by the experience of social pain or are better able to rationalize it,” the researchers said.

The study, “Narcissism and the experience of pain“, was in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.
From the Abstract:

Although grandiose narcissism was not associated with experiencing physical pain, it was associated with worse mood from experiencing pain.
When experiencing a socially painful experience, they reported being relatively unaffected and were not overly distracted from cognitive tasks.
The facets of narcissism such as psychological entitlement, interpersonal exploitativeness, and grandiosity were also explored.

Beyond a doubt, the way-worse person to be in charge in a setting such as ours here in the nowadays.
So blinded by the self:

Yet unaware/don’t care the damage done…
