Anthony Fauci: ‘The Deaths Are Real Deaths’

January 3, 2021

In this first Sunday of the new year, the T-Rump can’t help his malignant self, cursing COVID-19 numbers and revealing once again he doesn’t give a shit people are getting sick and dying.
Via ABC News this morning:

A staggering 299,087 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the United States on Saturday, according to a real-time count kept by Johns Hopkins University.

It’s the highest tally of newly diagnosed COVID-19 infections that a country has recorded in a 24-hour reporting period since the start of the pandemic.

An additional 2,398 deaths from COVID-19 were also registered nationwide on Saturday, down from a peak of 3,750 on Dec. 30, according to Johns Hopkins data.

COVID-19 data may be skewed due to possible lags in reporting over the holidays followed by a potentially very large backlog.

Yet the T-Rump being the shit-faced-asshole:

However, the top US physican called the bullshit (CNN):

US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams on Sunday said he has “no reason to doubt” the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Covid-19 death toll, contradicting President Donald Trump’s claim that the agency has “exaggerated” its numbers.

“From a public health perspective, I have no reason to doubt those numbers,” Adams told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” when asked about Trump’s claim.
“And I think people need to be very aware that it’s not just about the deaths, as we talked about earlier,” he added.
“It’s about the hospitalizations, the capacity. These cases are having an impact in an array of ways and people need to understand there’s a finish line in sight, but we’ve got to keep running toward it.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force, also pushed back against the President’s claim on Sunday when asked about it, telling ABC News that “the deaths are real deaths.”
“In many areas of the country, the hospital beds are stretched. People are running out of beds, running out of trained personnel who are exhausted right now,” Fauci said.
“That’s real. that’s not fake. That’s real.”

Of course, the T-Rump whined like a sulking baby: ‘Trump complained later Sunday about the public’s approval of Fauci’s job performance, writing in a tweet that Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, “works for me … and I am in no way given any credit for my work.”

And as COVID surges all over, especialy here in California, one San Jose hospital had an unusual tale of infectious spread — from a custume supposedly used to cheer up sick kids.
Per NBC News, also this morning:

At least 43 staff members tested positive for the virus between Dec. 27 and New Year’s Day, according to a statement from Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center on Saturday. The hospital’s emergency department has been deep-cleaned and all infected staff members are isolating while infected.

The hospital is looking into whether the fan on an “air-powered costume” could have spread droplets after a staff member briefly wore it in the emergency department on Christmas Day.

“Any exposure, if it occurred, would have been completely innocent, and quite accidental, as the individual had no COVID symptoms and only sought to lift the spirits of those around them during what is a very stressful time,” the hospital said.

Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center will no longer allow such costumes in its facility, the statement said.

As of this morning, the numbers are bleak: 85,225,326 confirmed cases worldwide, with 1,847,503 deaths; while in the US, 20,927,033 cases and 358,883 deaths.
In California:

Fuck you T-Rump!

And yet here we are…
