‘Lack Consideration For Others” Fuels Right-Wing Nut-Jobs

January 31, 2021

A major concern for this country in the immediate-short future is the cuckoo-for-Cocoa Puffs stain found in public discourse, coming full-bore from Republican mouths and anuses (correct spelling) with very little stop-gap time between lies, conspiracy theories, threats of violence, and other assorted idiotic bullshit that nearly inundates news cycles.
And no shut-down or even a down-play from those who should know better, and do, but are just too chickenshit-scared to say anything negative about anything negative:

Problem stems from the wanton ability to lie and mutter anything without reprecussions from any sector — a revealing burb on the horrible Greene was noted this morning via Linda Beigel Schulman, whose son, Scott Beigel, was killed in the the 2018 Parkland school shooting, Schulman said she’d talked to Greene via Zoom and although the conversation was”friendly and cordial,” she doesn’t trust the Congress-nutcase (NBC News):

“My first question to congresswoman Greene was do you really believe that Parkland and Sandy Hook were false flags and staged?” Schulman said.
“That was a real important question to me. To this moment, I cannot fathom that somebody could say something like that. Her answer was unequivocally no, I do not.”

Schulman said that while she “very much wanted to” trust Greene, she felt she couldn’t.

“Unless she wants to get in front of the public and wants to right the wrong lies being espoused out there and wants to disavow the things that she said, no, I can’t believe it,” Schulman said, adding, “Maybe inside of her she believes it, I don’t know. I have no idea. I’m not inside of her, but you can, words are very powerful, but actions speak louder than words.”

Yes they do, and if people like Hutchinson and Kevin McCarthy won’t admonish her, and even Greene herself, going public with the truth, nothing will happen outside a ballot box.

People who follow in Greene’s ugly footsteps, or are too cowardly/shit-faced to call them out, have already within their personas the patterns needed to hate, and kill if need be to push an agenda. Shitty people accept shitty dogma, Even science has noted — from PsyPost today:

New research from Poland has found a link between antisocial tendencies and support for group violence.
The study, which has been published in the scientific journal Personality and Individual Differences, suggests that people who lack consideration for others’ wellbeing are more prone to political radicalization.

The authors of the study conducted the research to bridge findings from two different areas of psychology.

“Social psychological research on collective action shows us the importance of group identification, perceived injustice or group efficacy in willingness to engage in actions on behalf of one’s group,” said study author Tomasz Besta of the University of Gdansk.

“Meanness — understood as callousness, cold-heartedness, low empathy — was related to acceptance of violent social change” on behalf of one’s country, on behalf of right-wing groups, and on behalf of left-wing groups, Besta explained.
“Disinhibition — understood as weak impulse control — was related to support for collective violent actions only for the right-wing group, and willingness to fight for group members.”

“What is also interesting is the interplay between disinhibition and group identification when it comes to support violence on behalf of right-wing groups.
Among weak identifiers, there was no relationship between disinhibition and support for violent actions, but this link became significant when strong identifiers were considered.”

Even fatally worse in this context is the COVID-19 pandemic, and ‘lack consideration for others‘ — meaness on the high-side (HuffPost from Friday):

Dangerous attacks on the health measures of masks and social distancing as an affront to “freedom” and suspicions about vaccinations has been fueled by “an active and unabashed anti-science disinformation initiative by the White House,” and “the president himself,” wrote Dr. Peter Hotez in in the journal PLO Biology in an essay Thursday.
That disinformation included “dismissing the severity of the virus and hyping treatments beyond their effectiveness,” noted Hotez.

An “anti-science disinformation campaign” has also been peddled by Russia, as well as by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte in a “medical populism,” wrote Hotez.

The attacks on science are making the COVID-19 pandemic worse than it would otherwise be, noted Hotez, who is the dean for the National School for Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine.

Continued disinformation and support for shunning masks could trigger a further “mass casualty event” in the U.S, he warned.

Yeah, what still works…?
