Sunday Semi-Serenade — ‘Dancing In The Dark’

April 3, 2022

Early-evening Sunday here in California’s Central Valley — today another sun-splashed one with nice temperatures cooled by gentle breezes. In the sense of external living conditions, this is probably as good as it gets.
All downhill from here.

In that contextual bottom line, I got tired of the horror out of Ukraine as the war there seems to have turned a horrid corner and is floating into graphic war-crime sensibilities which will eventually affect how the war plays itself out. The pix and videos are shitty beyond belief and the stories are well further out from what a sane, fairly-decent person would think and believe in 2022.
Vlad Putin has a hot piece of way-ugly shit on his hands.

Anyway, to get a bit of a respite from that shit for just a little while I spied a new take on Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark” — I was listening to the way-best rendition of Bruce’s iconic tune from Daniela Andrade and Gia Margaret, which has become my get-to song for the terrible-horrors of nowadays (hear it here as it’s only can be played on YouTube) — when I saw this one from Australian rock band, The VANNS, and their cover. It hit the mark:

And another VANNS’ tune, well within the nowadays’ vibe — “Deranged” the title:

As if alone and listening to the sense of dread-departure off a sad, bad-weather day — Annie Lennox full acoustic:

Bonus respite kicker comes via Miss Emily Dickinson — “Much Madness Is Divinest Sense

Much Madness is divinest Sense –
To a discerning Eye –
Much Sense – the starkest Madness –
’Tis the Majority
In this, as all, prevail –
Assent – and you are sane –
Demur – you’re straightway dangerous –
And handled with a Chain –

Despite it all, the laugh’s on me once again as here we are…
