T-Rump’s Bluff Rebuffed — ‘Merrick Garland Is Actually A Ninja’

August 11, 2022

An amazing amount of news floating across the InterWebs this late-afternoon Thursday here in California’s Central Valley (and all over the country) — in trying to put together a post on some intriguing facet item is tricky because there’s so much shit it boggles the brain (if I had one) and keeps the laptop lapping all of it up.
A swirl of homegrown shit including an unsuccessful attempt to use a nailgun on an FBI office in Cincinnati. Republican violent, vocal bullshit on the Mar-a-Lago raid returns dividends

And Marrick Garland stood his ground, turned the cards — T-Rump’s niece, Mary L.Trump noted the fright: “He’s probably having a very difficult time processing this because, you know, Donald is a coward and a bully … He only attacks if he believes there will be no counterattack. He’s been tripped up by two things here. As Neal said earlier, Garland is playing chess. Donald can only play checkers. So, he’s being outmaneuvered. He’s also gotten tripped up. It never occurred to Donald that somebody who looks like Merrick Garland and talks like Merrick Garland is actually a ninja.”

Garland’s call for the official raid papers to be unsealed tops the board:

Marcy Wheeler nails it at emptywheel this afternoon:

These documents are precisely the ones that Trump could have released all by himself, but chose not to. He could object now. But if he did, it would make clear — as if all the refusals to release it to journalists hasn’t already — that it’s really damning.

And now — in a short announcement where he took no questions, but where Garland made a fierce defense of DOJ and the FBI — Garland is calling Trump’s bluff.

Hard to bluster when you’re guilty as shit and you know it. T-Rump hopefully be fucked.

Stand-off in the spotlight, and once again here we are…

(Illustration out front is of a New York state high-school student exhibit: ‘The piece was displayed during student-driven art show at Shenendehowa High School. It consisted of at least 12 identical black-and-white pictures of Donald Trump. There was also a sign above the pictures that read, “Draw on Me.” Using markers from the art classroom, some students opted to scribble critical messages and profanities on the pictures‘ — and found here.)
