Hot with a bright, glaring stillness this near-noon Tuesday here in California’s Central Valley — a continuing streak of same-old-same-old weather pattern of summer sizzle in the morning.
However, not so for America — as I’m sure you all have already heard: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is Kamala Harris’ VP pick. And a knock backwards for the nasty, cruel MAGA-hatters of the T-Rump.
Michael Ian Black at The Daily Beast this morning:
That’s the thing about Minnesotans. They really are nice. They take pride in it. Maybe you’re familiar with the phrase, “Minnesota nice.” For the longest, I just assumed they used that phrase ironically. They do not. They mean it. They take pride in their niceness. For a Jersey boy like myself who grew up flipping to anybody who looked at you sideways, their niceness is inexplicable.

No wonder a guy like Governor Tim Walz should come from there. He’s a perfect example of the sort of Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) that emerged during the FDR years, a party which also produced famous white liberals like Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, Paul Wellstone, Al Franken, Eugene McCarthy, Amy Klobuchar, and the current Democratic nominee for Vice President of the United States. Not a hothead in the bunch. Just a collection of happy, pale people who care about others.
Even originating the word, ‘weird‘ to describe asshole-crazy Republicans, a nice-guy call on shitty behavior –like so:
Easy to see why the chemistry test went well. Kamala is gonna have so much fun with Tim and one thing they have in common… they both hate bullies. https://t.co/yYQ11VxBUo

Walz was my choice all along, and I was hoping she’d pick him. The other guys were all right, though, Dems have a really, really strong bench of governors, Congresscriters, and such to reinforce this year’s re-election effort. I think American voters are really going to see/feel the difference between JD Vance and Tim Walz — the ‘weird,’ nasty self-centered Republican, and the hope radiating from our side.
A for instance, Walz noted the odd-shithead T-Rump and the far-out inhumanity: ‘“Have you ever seen the guy laugh? That seems very weird to me, that an adult can go through six and a half years of being in the public eye. If he has laughed, it’s at someone, not with someone. That is weird behavior.” ‘
Poo on you, T-Rump.
Walz on the walk around, full to-the-tip-top with hope and confidence:
Yet here we are once again…
