Hilariously Not Funny

April 13, 2012

Next to the North Koreans, the US Republican political party is the biggest bunch of incompetent, big-mouthed assholes on the planet — after some wondrous words of self praise, both fired rockets that disintegrated shortly after lift off, leaving the joke’s punch line in the dust.
The North Koreans a few days ago on the missile launch as an “inspiring deed and an event of historic significance of the nation as it demonstrates the leaping development of space science and technology of the country.”
And this morning: “Scientists, technicians and experts are now looking into the cause of the failure.”

(Illustration found here).

Although the entire incident scared the shit out of any rational person — the North Koreans are war-like insane — the biggest fright is the dumb-ass inability to do anything right, creating from a mistake a problem that could blow the shit out of east Asia.
Compounding the stupidity, the launch was to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il Sung, the founder of North Korea, which is to be celebrated this Sunday — the so-called ‘Day of the Sun.’
Maybe, ‘Afternoon of the Moon‘ might be better title.

Meanwhile, in the US the GOP has gotten its panties in a bind over the fractured, not-fabricated Republican war on women, or, maybe a better title would be the ‘I don’t-give-shit bitch-slap to uppity females‘ part of the political discourse and are whacking-off like pussies.

Yesterday morning, a question posed to a Romney campaign spokesmen: Does Mitt Romney support the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act?
Their answer? Silence. And then…“Um, we’ll get back to you on that.” (via Crooks and Liars).
What a major question — does Mitt support the “reality of wage discrimination” or not?
WTF.

Mitt does indeed have a female problem.
From the LA Times:

The gender gap Romney faces is stark.
e trailed President Obama among women by 19 percentage points in a Washington Post/ABC News poll this week — a slide that began in the midst of the Republican primary debate over issues like access to birth control.
Perhaps most ominously, a USA Today/Gallup survey released last week found that Obama had opened a 14-percentage-point lead over Romney among independent women in 12 swing states.

On Wednesday, an even more nasty can of worms was opened when Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen took a shot at Mitt’s wife, Ann, saying Mrs. Romney has “never worked a day in her life” and the remark popped off the lid.

Ann Romney made a rare interview appearance on Fox News to stoke the controversy.
“Mitt said to me more times than you would imagine, ‘Ann, your job is more important than mine … your job is a forever job that is going to bring forever happiness.’ “

One could choke at the bullshit.

And chocked so freakin’ full of hypocrisy.
Via Jezebel, tracking Ann Romney:

Ann Romney responded to Rosen on an appearance on Fox News, saying that her “career choice” must be respected, like the choices of all women.
Quoth she,

“My career choice was to be a mother and I think all of us need to know we need to respect choices that women make. Other women make choices to have a career and raise a family, which I think Hilary Rosen has actually done herself. I respect that, that’s wonderful. But there are other people that have a choice, and we have to respect women and all those choices that they make.”

Choice, choice, choice from the wife of a candidate who has advocated for nothing but limiting the choices of women.
A candidate who wants employers to opt out of covering contraceptives for women, forcing them to “choose” to spend their own money to not get pregnant rather than utilize the insurance for which they pay premiums.
A candidate who has not supported the Lily Ledbetter Equal Pay Act, a law that makes it easier for women to sue employers for pay discrimination.
A candidate who has said that he’d support a constitutional amendment that defined life as beginning at the moment of conception, effectively eliminating the right of women to “choose” whether or not they want to be pregnant.

Although Rosen has apologized and just about everybody from Michele Obama to David Axelrod had condemned the ‘never worked‘ line, Republican won’t let a lie lie.
All Republicans are desperate,  this latest non-news item is an example, and like the sad North Koreans, it’s back to the drawing board — but for the GOP November ain’t funny either.
