Clear and chilly this Thursday morning here on California’s north coast as we attempt to make through tomorrow — and the glorious two-day holiday!
A short work week can be tougher than it looks.

A lot of folks open their mouth and shit comes out, but for US Secretary of State John Kerry in remarks about Eddie Snowden, he drools poop while proving he’s a huge, atomic-powered asshole:

“This is a man who has betrayed his country. He should man up and come back to the U.S. The fact is he has damaged his country very significantly. I find it sad and disgraceful.”

Kerry has always seemed an asshole, though, he tried and tried to appear a ‘regular guy,’ but the shit in his teeth always betrayed him. Worse, he thinks his poo-poo don’t stink — via Aljazeera:

Kerry’s comments came ahead of the scheduled airing on Wednesday evening of Snowden’s first sit-down interview with a U.S. network.
In excerpts released by NBC, Snowden — who fled the United States after leaking classified documents detailing massive surveillance by the U.S. government — said he “never intended to end up in Russia.”
“I had a flight booked to Cuba onwards to Latin America, and I was stopped because the United States government decided to revoke my passport and trap me in Moscow airport. So when people ask, ‘Why are you in Russia?’ I say, ‘Please ask the State Department,’” Snowden said.
Kerry reacted bluntly to the accusation.
“For a supposedly smart guy, that’s a pretty dumb answer,” he told NBC. Snowden has previously said he acted out of “good conscience” to protect privacy and basic liberties.
“If he cares so much about America and he believes in America, he should trust in the American system of justice,” Kerry said.
“But to be hiding in Russia, an authoritarian country, and to have just admitted that he was really trying to get to Cuba — I mean, what does that tell you?
I think he’s confused, I think it’s very sad, but this is a man who has done great damage to his country.”

Backwards John is the one confused — “man up” — he’s got to be shitting us.
Stephen Silver at Technologytell offers a view of Kerry as prick:

This isn’t about Kerry’s position on Snowden, although I’m sure Snowden heard Kerry say that, took notice, and made moves to immediately surrender to authorities.
Instead, I’m objecting to Kerry’s use of the odious phrase “Man Up,” which I associate not with manhood itself, but rather with a particularly lamentable and douchey conception of masculinity.
It’s one of beer commercials, of Two and a Half Men, of other, less successful sitcoms, and the idea that football players who get seriously injured and don’t go back on the field are pussies.
It’s just a nicer, slightly less sexist way of saying “don’t be such a bitch.”
It’s a completely empty phrase, backed with the vague insinuation that the male target shouldn’t act like such a woman.
It’s kind of disappointing, coming from someone for whom I once voted for president.

My response to Kerry is hauntingly similar to Snoop Dog’s posture toward pricks, assholes and racist shitheads: “…bitch-ass redneck, whitebread, chickenshit motherfucker.”
And Kerry’s bullshit is empty of real intelligence — via the Guardian:

Responding to Kerry’s comments on Wednesday, Ben Wizner, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union and a legal adviser to Snowden, said the whistleblower hoped to return to the United States one day, but that he could not do so under the current Espionage Act charges, which make it impossible for him to argue that his disclosures had served the common good.
“The laws under which Snowden is charged don’t distinguish between sharing information with the press in the public interest, and selling secrets to a foreign enemy,” Wizner said.
“The laws would not provide him any opportunity to say that the information never should have been withheld from the public in the first place.
“And the fact that the disclosures have led to the highest journalism rewards, have led to historic reforms in the US and around the world — all of that would be irrelevant in a prosecution under the espionage laws in the United States.”
Snowden also could face an untold number of additional charges if he returned to the United States.
“He could be charged for each of the documents that has been published,” Wizner said.
“The exposure that he faces is virtually unlimited under this.”

This country is truly in a world of hurt. All our authorities want is for the entire Snowden episode to be cleanly, easily swept under the rug, as if nothing real-wrong has taken place, as if what the US is doing — spying on the planet and all its inhabitants — is A-okay.
Snowden revealed the legal spying allowed access to information without individual warrants, mass-intercepting data from the fibre-optic cables and the result undermined security standards for just about all legitimate business ventures. The scope of the outrage unprecedented, and, really unconscionable.
Yet we are told the whole shebang is to keep us safe — total bullshit.
As if — last week, the NSA released a report supposedly showing the Snowden disclosures damaged the US and were “staggering” in its weighty scope. And the word, ‘supposedly,’ intends what? Just that any supporting evidence was redacted.
Steven Aftergood, director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists: “The essence of the report is contained in the statement that ‘the scope of the compromised knowledge related to US intelligence capabilities is staggering.’ But all elaboration of what this striking statement means has been withheld.”
Blowing smoke where there’s no fire.

Despite all the nasty-mouthed bullshit, little Eddie does apparently carry a patriotic torch, as he revealed in that NBC interview:

“I was on Fort Meade on September 11. I was right outside the NSA,” he told Williams.
“So I remember the tension on that day. I remember hearing on the radio the planes hit.”
Snowden added that his grandfather was at the Pentagon that day.
“I take the threat of terrorism seriously, and I think we all do.
“And I think it’s really disingenuous for the government to invoke and sort of scandalize our memories to sort of exploit the national trauma that we all suffered together and worked so hard to come through, and justify programs that have never been shown to keep us safe but cost us liberties and freedoms that we don’t need to give up, and our Constitution says we should not give up.”

Kerry should man-up, and shut the fuck up.
