Sunny and warm a few minutes after the noon hour this Tuesday here in California’s Central Valley — summer falling into autumn nice and easy.
So far, anyway.
In doomscrolling the news this morning, I became a bit worried about some bits of really-insane polling for the 2024 presidential race — despite the absolute terror and pure awfulness of the T-Rump in every conceivable-way possible, he will most likely be the Repubkican nominee. Seemingly, the other nit-twit GOP higher-job seekers of the Republican leaders are shit-canned way below the Orange Turd — so shitty there’s a wide gulf between he and thee.
And one of the wonders of this crazy-ass age and the modern (?) GOP is T=Rump’s criminal/immoral/unethical acts apparently are doing the asshole more good than bad.
Showcasing that horror-mystery of nowadays, that bubble of illusion adopted by an incredible, malignant mass of Americans — via the Guardian‘s live blog this morning:
Donald Trump’s lead over his closest rival for the Republican presidential race, Florida governor Ron DeSantis, has widened to 34 points, according to a new poll.
The CNN poll, conduced 25-31 August, shows 52 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters support Trump for the part’s nomination, compared with 18 percent who back DeSantis.
More than four in 10 potential GOP primary voters said they have definitely decided to support the former president for the nomination, while nearly two-thirds consider him one of their top two choices.
Most respondents said they did not feel the criminal charges Trump faces are relevant to his ability to serve as president, and the majority said they were not seriously concerned about the impact the charges could have on his electability. On the other hand, about one in five Republican-aligned voters said they would not vote for Trump in the primary under any circumstances.
In any other time period, that bit of news would be scorunfully laughed away.
Insane, yet also this from last week:
When a candidate has this kind of lead, despite having been indicted in four separate jurisdictions for dozens of felonies, either the polls are wrong or people who speak of "rational actors" in political theory have no idea what they are talking about.https://t.co/KGtMciArSt

And even more strange and start bizarre — Joe Biden is running near-neck-and-neck with the criminally possessed asshole — from Axios, also this morning:
President Biden and former President Trump have identical ratings in a new WSJ poll: 39 percent of registered voters view them favorably, while 58% percent view them unfavorably.
Why it matters: Many analysts believed so many voters had turned against Trump that it would be difficult for him to win a general election. But the WSJ poll finds 49 percent view Biden very unfavorably, just behind Trump’s 52 percent.
One key difference plays in Trump’s favor: 27 percent of voters view him very favorably, vs. 17 percent for Biden.
Zoom in: The WSJ poll indicates that Trump’s alleged criminal actions in the wake of the 2020 election may be a political liability for him, as a majority of voters believe at least some of the charges he faces are legitimate — though many also believe them to be politically motivated. But the poll shed light on one of Biden’s major liabilities: his age. More than half of respondents think Biden is not “mentally up for the job of president,” while 73 percent believe the 80-year-old president is “too old” to run again.
Trump, 77, scores better on “mentally up for the job,” while 47 percent believe he’s too old to run.
Between the lines: While 51% percent of voters believe Trump has a “strong record of accomplishment as president,” 40 percent say the same for Biden. Voters are also more likely to believe Trump “has a vision for the future.”Majorities of voters also disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy and immigration — two issues at the top of voters’ minds.
Nuts, or what?
Morning Joe has some further WSJ-poll whatnot:
Something in the water/air, or not, yet once again here we are…
(Illustration out front is of a New York state high-school student exhibit: ‘The piece was displayed during student-driven art show at Shenendehowa High School. It consisted of at least 12 identical black-and-white pictures of Donald Trump. There was also a sign above the pictures that read, “Draw on Me.” Using markers from the art classroom, Isome students opted to scribble critical messages and profanities on the pictures‘ — and found here.)
