Miss Liberty And The Chaos Of Grift

Happy fourth, Miss Liberty!

In the celebration of a celebration, it’s about the country, not T-Rump’s insatiable, cruel scam of our history:

The corruption is staggering in scale and scope, it doesn’t stop, and Republicans in Congress refuse to do any oversight because, as Mike Johnson admitted this week, they serve as a protection racket to cover up the crimes of the regime.

Tom Sullivan today at Digby’s place nutshelled it right-spot on — no way could I record it any better:

Our modern mad king has bulldozed the East Wing. He has wrecked the Reflecting Pool in the name of fixing it. The coward has trashed the capitol’s greens and plastered federal buildings with his glowering image. He has accepted bribes on a scale that would make world-historical despots blush. He has redecorated the Oval Office to resemble a brothel. He has turned Department of Justice attorneys into agents of revenge against those who refuse to kiss his ass. He fired thousands of dedicated public servants who accept less pay than their expertise would bring in the public sector because they believe in mission more than money. He has systematically demolished the rule of law and made the United States of America look like a third-world kleptocracy. He has turned the former beacon of liberty into a near-police state in pursuit of ethnic cleansing, his private army snatching people from their homes and work for not looking white enough and, without due process, sent them in shackles to countries they’ve never known. He murders boatmen on the high seas. He starts wars to satisfy his need to look “strongly.” He’s tried to rewrite the 14th Amendment to deny birthright citizenship to millions (and narrowly lost that legal contest). He’s destroyed the country’s trust among friends and allies while courting foreign dictators. Today was supposed to be a celebration of 250 years of American progress toward perfecting the union launched with the Declaration. He’s turned that celebration into a grifty pageant about Himself.

In every way possible:

Link it up — speaking of a lying sack-of-shit. Who falls for this?

Not a hero, cool at all:

Indy day redux, or not, yet here we are once again …
