Typo Titans

February 2, 2021

In the course of human events never it seems have so many idiots worked for an incompetent idiot to cause so much havoc — T-Rump’s new impeachment lawyers filed a 14-page brief this morning as the Senate trial starts next week, and they’re straight-faced clowns.
Are these people professionally dumb, or what?

Typos in the age of spell-check is ludicrous, though, the whole enterprise is a slap in the dark — T-Rump really doesn’t give a shit because he’s sure the Senate will exonerate him anyway. The filings, however, appear to indicate the T-Rump is perfectly innocent.
Via USAToday this morning:

Trump’s team argues in the 14-page Tuesday filing that remarks Trump made about the election were protected by free speech and denied he played any part in inciting the deadly attack at the U.S. Capitol that left multiple people dead Jan. 6.

“The Senate lacks jurisdiction to remove from office a man who does not hold office,” the filing states, calling the case “moot.”
“In the alternative, the 45th President respectfully requests the Senate acquit him on the merits of the allegations raised in the article of impeachment.”

Trump’s attorneys argue that along with the Senate not having the constitutional grounds to hold an impeachment trial for a former president, the House’s impeachment article charging him with inciting an insurrection was improperly drafted.
They pointed out the House skipped hearings and took only a week to impeach him after the attack at the Capitol.

Meanwhile, House impeachment prosecutors today also filed their written brief for trial (80 pages), and makes a clear case for a clear case of insurrection (same link as above):

The House article of impeachment charged that Trump incited the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6 with a fiery speech before a violent mob invaded the Capitol and left multiple dead. The riot came after Trump spent months questioning the legitimacy of the election and pleaded with Georgia officials to “find” votes to allow him to win that state, the article charged.

“The only honorable path at that point was for President Trump to accept the results and concede his electoral defeat,” the 80-page brief said.
“Instead, he summoned a mob to Washington, exhorted them into a frenzy, and aimed them like a loaded cannon down Pennsylvania Avenue.”

The brief outlined the violence that occurred.

“In a grievous betrayal of his Oath of Office, President Trump incited a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol during the Joint Session, thus impeding Congress’s confirmation of Joseph R. Biden, Jr. as the winner of the presidential election,” the brief said.
“As it stormed the Capitol, the mob yelled out ‘President Trump Sent Us,’ ‘Hang Mike Pence,’ and ‘Traitor Traitor Traitor.’”

In an contextual aside, this isn’t the first typo incident with the T-Rump’s lawyers — Sidney Powell, one nutcase attorney on hand for awhile for T-Rump filed a typo-laden brief last November, contesting the election in Michigan/Georgia, and the incident turned up as part of a riotous Oval Office meeting in December.
A full, near-hilarious encounter reported near-fully this morning by Axios — go read the whole piece, which details the swearing, screaming and drama by a bunch of total dumb-shits, but this the arc on the typos:

Trump came back into the Oval Office from the dining room to rejoin the meeting.
Lyons pointed out to Powell that their incompetence went beyond their lawsuits being thrown out for standing.
“You somehow managed to misspell the word ‘District’ three different ways in your suits,” he said pointedly.

In a Georgia case, the Powell team had misidentified the court on the first page of their filing as “THE UNITED STATES DISTRICCT COURT, NORTHERN DISTRCOICT OF GEORGIA.” And they had identified the Michigan court as the “EASTERN DISTRCT OF MICHIGAN.”

These were sloppy spelling errors.
But given that these lawsuits aimed to overturn a presidential election, the court nomenclature should have been pristine.

Powell, Flynn and Byrne began attacking Lyons as they renewed their argument to Trump: There they go again, they want to focus on the insignificant details instead of fighting for you.

Trump replied, “No, no, he’s right. That was very embarrassing. That shouldn’t have happened.”

You shouldn’t have happened, asshole.

These people are dumber than these people — this also a grievous shout-out to the passing of the legendary Hal Holbrook:

“Truth is, these are not very bright guys…”
