Actual reality of this day via the great Mark Twain:

Thanksgiving Day, a function which originated in New England two or three centuries ago when those people recognized that they really had something to be thankful for — annually, not oftener — if they had succeeded in exterminating their neighbors, the Indians, during the previous twelve months instead of getting exterminated by their neighbors, the Indians.
Thanksgiving Day became a habit, for the reason that in the course of time, as the years drifted on, it was perceived that the exterminating had ceased to be mutual and was all on the white man’s side, consequently on the Lord’s side; hence it was proper to thank the Lord for it and extend the usual annual compliments.

And hence today as health experts warn, a major super-spreader event for COVID-19, so therefore ‘extend the usual annual compliments‘ before the body bags arrive — freedoms, etc.

Amy Coney Barrett makes her first splash/appearance on Broadway Court:

Insult to sanity, the T-Rump’s Thanksgiving Day message was on-message: ‘The final line of the proclamation, issued by the White House press secretary’s office Wednesday evening, reads: “I encourage all Americans to gather, in homes and places of worship, to offer a prayer of thanks to God for our many blessings.”

Vs Joe Biden in a heartfelt plea for togetherness apart: ‘“I know that this time of year can be especially difficult. Believe me, I know,” Biden said, pausing for a moment and taking a breath. “I remember that first Thanksgiving. The empty chair, the silence. Takes your breath away.”

Happy, happy…
