Lindsey’s Sanctimoniously Sashaying Simply Stupefying

March 28, 2021

In a post designed to showcase an American piece of shit, a nice start is to first exhibit that sense of helping neighbors and fellow companions (h/t tweet tengrain):

And shifting to something that’s utterly (otterly?) sickening — Lindsey Graham being a piece of sanctimonious shit regarding being racist and the tsunami of Republican-led voting suppression measures sweeping the country:

Graham was on Fox News this morning and after blathering about Joe Biden’s posturing, gets stumped/stunned by Chris Wallace — details via The Daily Beast this morning:

Interviewing Graham on Fox News Sunday, Wallace brought up Biden’s strong condemnation of Republicans rushing to restrict voting rights, airing a clip of the president calling the effort “sick” while likening it the Jim Crow era.

“Senator, are Republicans going too far in some of these various states?” Wallace asked the South Carolina lawmaker.

Graham, who allegedly attempted to pressure the Georgia secretary of state to consider tossing out mail ballots following last year’s presidential election, took offense.

“You know what’s sick is that the president of the United States played the race card continuously in such a hypocritical way,” Graham huffed.
“He said the filibuster was a relic of the Jim Crow era.”

Graham went on to call HR 1, the national voting-rights bill that House Democrats recently passed, the “biggest power grab in history” before once again lamenting that Republicans are being painted as racist for restricting voting access.

Wallace, meanwhile, directly confronted Graham about the specific provisions of the Georgia law.

“It would limit the number and location of drop boxes. It allows counties to cut off early voting at 5:00 p.m. before a lot of working people get off and could go vote, and this is the one that I think is creating the biggest fuss, it prohibits—it makes it a crime—to give food or drink to voters waiting in line,” the Fox News Sunday moderator noted.

“Senator, why on earth, if Americans are willing to wait hours to vote, would you make it a crime for people to come and give them a bottle of water?” Wallace added.

“Well, all I can say is that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, I agree with you there,” Graham conceded, before pivoting back to complaining about HR 1 and expanded mail-in voting.

What a turd.
I guess, this a reflection of Lindsey’s understanding of ‘power grab:’

A bit of reminder (Washington Post): ‘In 43 states across the country, Republican lawmakers have proposed at least 250 laws that would limit mail, early in-person and Election Day voting with such constraints as stricter ID requirements, limited hours or narrower eligibility to vote absentee, according to data compiled as of Feb. 19 by the nonpartisan Brennan Center for Justice. Even more proposals have been introduced since then.

Meanwhile, further Lindsey shit-faux remarks on the way he (and all Republicans) view American life — in the same interview with Wallace, sashaying Lindsey is really, really scared of people:

Some detail via HuffPost:

In the event of a natural disaster in South Carolina, don’t necessarily expect to see Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) helping dig survivors out of rubble.
The senator indicated Sunday that he’d instead be at home with his AR-15, ready to pick off marauding gangs presumably at least partly made up of his own constituents.

“I own an AR-15,” Graham told Chris Wallace on Fox News.
“If there’s a natural disaster in South Carolina where the cops can’t protect my neighborhood, my house will be the last one that the gang will come to, because I can defend myself.”

Graham mentioned his home protection plans in response to Wallace’s question about the gun control debate that’s taking place after recent mass shootings in the U.S.
The South Carolina Republican is opposed to banning assault rifles.

Of course, he is just opposed to being able to vote, too.
Yet does Lindsey ever see fucking reality in real time? Or people who live it:

Lindsey and the entire Republican party don’t give a shit about governing, about how people feel about guns and how they live their daily lives in the nowadays America. Lindsey is the perfect example of how wretched the right side of the bus has become and nothing will be accomplished without giving Republicans the way-complete brush-off and erase them from our political inventory.
And what makes it even more shit-faced crazy is how Lindsey, along with Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, just to name a couple, of Republicans who called the T-Rump for what he is — a psychotic monster.
Lindsey in December 2015:

WTF!
